There is only one direct connection between Oxford and Bath per day which takes 2 hours and costs 15 GBP for an economy advance return. At other times it is still possible to make the journey but you need to make a connection at Heathrow airport and the journey takes longer (4 to 5 hours) and costs more (50 GBP). For more detailed information, including maps and national and local buses in Bath see our guide to Bath Bus Station.
After booking online, you will be issued with an e-ticket, which you need to print out and take with you, or an m-ticket, which is sent to your mobile phone. If you buy a ticket for a specific bus time, the ticket is normally honoured for 24 hours from your original departure time should you be delayed.
An alternative to the bus is to take a train to bath. This requires one change at Reading Station and takes about 1 hour 20 minutes at a cost of about 13.80 GBP for an advance single or 24 GBP for an off peak return. It is advisable to book train tickets in advance online as they are cheaper. Strange as it may seem you may also find it cheaper to book two single tickets rather than a return. For more detailed information, including maps, national and trains from Bath see our guide to Bath Train Station.
You get the best fares by booking up to three months in advance. You can buy your tickets online, at the station ticket counter, or from the ticket machines. If you book online you will need to collect your tickets from the ticket machine using the same credit card you used to book your tickets online.
